This pic of GG Wondermutt and his tongue of doom. He’s such an adorable dork.

Day 9 of a Month of Prompts

month of prompts

I don’t really have any style icons that I can think of. For the most part, my wardrobe consists of black or gray jeans, a dark colored top, and boots, sandals, or sneakers, depending on the time of year.

8 days into November

and I decide to do a month of prompts. Here we go:

month of prompts

  1. Five favorite actresses, in no particular order: Jennifer Lawrence, Millie Bobby Brown, Chloe Grace Moretz, Ellen Page, and Kristen Wiig.
  2. Five favorite actors, also in no particular order: Jon Seda, Zach Galifianakis, Robert DeNiro, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Harrison Ford.
  3. Five favorite music artists: The Pixies, The B52’s, Royal Blood, The Police, and Gunship.
  4. Five favorite songs: Maybe not of all time, but some I love right now are Lies by Chvrches, Can I Sit Next To You by Spoon, Candy’s Room by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tea in the Sahara by The Police, and Deadcrush by Alt-J.
  5. Five favorite horror movies: Carrie (1978), Nightbreed, Hellraiser, The Lost Boys, and Rosemary’s Baby.
  6. Five favorite comedies: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Blues Brothers, Animal House, Trading Places, and Bridesmaids.
  7. Five favorite movies of all time: Star Wars, (original trilogy, especially The Empire Strikes Back,) plus all the others I mentioned.
  8. Five favorite words: school, cat, snack, story, and discover.

Happy Birthday to GG Wondermutt!

GG turned 9 years old today! He enjoyed some chicken noodle casserole and a dish of vanilla ice cream.

Synchronicity of the Day

Thirteen comments on a post about Friday the 13th. There’s a 111 there, too.

Fun With Milliput

This is a crown sculpted from Milliput, an epoxy putty. It is slowly curing (There are two rolls of putty you knead together and allegedly it hardens in a few hours, but not this particular piece). When it does finally dry, it will be painted with black color-shift acrylic.

I’m back and I made some wands

The wand bases are chopsticks, and the rest of them were constructed with hot glue, paint, polymer clay, and various beads. A few a still works-in-progress.

These are necromancer potion bottles I made for an upcoming Ren faire. They’re filled with rubber bugs, gel stage blood, and beads. I still have to make some labels.

September Prompts

sept prompts

Thank you Pinterest, for being the best place to pillage pictures, recipes, and journal prompts. So, here we are again at September. We’re starting the long, slow good bye to summer, and blah blah blah, you’ve heard this all before.

I always mean to do one of these monthly prompts lists but I either forget or we’re halfway through the month. Actually, I did do a 30 Day Challenge once before…and completed it!

Instead of backtracking (unless I change my mind and squeeze the other 4 in), I’m just going to start at day 5: This week’s success.

Well, it’s only Monday, and Labor Day at that. I haven’t had time for success yet. Do last week’s successes count? I could be here all day debating this. But since you want real answers: this week’s success includes completing the Possessives 2 lesson in level 10 on Duolingo. It’s a free language-learning  platform. I’m teaching myself French.

More recent successes:

  • going to Title Boxing Club or exercising at least three days a week consistently.
  • Finishing my novel and sending it off to be copy edited.
  • Completing daily  15 minute freewrites for eleven days in a row.
  • Writing the new novel daily, also in 15 minute increments, without self-censoring or constant, as-I-go edits.

The Mad Hatter’s Meme

From Sunday Stealing!

I swear this meme looks familiar…*goes to check* ok, I’ve answered some of these already on previous memes, but here goes.

What’s the meaning or inspiration of your blog’s title?

The name Impybat is actually an old mIRC chat nick when I used to hang out on #weird-al. It comes from both my love of bats and the comic strip Mutts, when Mooch and Earl met a bat in a haunted house.

Says the bat: I’m not creepy, nor am I am mouse with wings. My ears are adorable, and I’m very helpful to the environment. Check out this nasty bug I’m about to eat. You’re welcome.

I’ve always liked the word emporium. Since an emporium is a place where you can get a wide variety of stuff, and that pretty much describes my blog, I thought it was fitting when it came time for a blog name change.

What do you consider your biggest strength?

Social skills. It sounds weird and silly, but what cripples others with social anxiety gives me energy.

What do you consider your biggest weakness?

Tell us why we should like your favorite band.

It used to be the Pixies. I don’t think I have  a favorite anymore, just bands I’m currently obsessed with. Right now, that’s Gunship, Metric, and CHVRCHES. Why you should like them: because they’re AWESOME. Just kidding, you may or may not like them but I encourage you to always try new things, including music.

Who is your favorite model of all-time? Why?

I don’t know too much about the modeling world. But if I had to name one:

it’d be this guy: David Gandy. Why? Look at him! Oh, and he loves dogs.

Does it bother you when people talk about their pets? Why?

No, because I’m one of those “fur baby” people.

Tell us about your favorite holiday.

Halloween! Well, let’s see: it falls on October 31, and it’s a joyously spooky time of year where people of all ages get dressed up in costumes and attend parties and go trick or treating and–

Oh, you knew all that already? Fine.

What was the last fabulous meal that you ate? Where were you?

The last fabulous meal I ate was about a half hour ago. I was enjoying last night’s leftover Chinese take out. Pan fried noodles and teriyaki chicken, yum.

What’s your lucky number and why?

I don’t really have a lucky number, but as a numerology fan, I’ll just approach this question from that angle. Here’s a post I did once about being a Life Path 5.

Art journal page describing Life Path 5 through keywords and images. A Life Path number is a concept of Numerology, something I’ve been fascinated with since childhood. There are a number of ways to calculate the various numbers, such as through your name or date of birth.

Of course, there must be negative traits that exist alongside the positive ones. I made a little “doorway” flap that lifts up and wrote some of them underneath.
I used cardstock, acrylics, markers, gel pen, stickers, a rubber stamp, and inkjet printed images.

What are five things you hate?

Misogyny, homophobia, willful ignorance, the cult of celebrity worship, and math.

What are five things you love?

My husband, the way my cat Evangeline jumps up and headbutts me in the morning, autumn, creating art, and writing.

Tell us a secret you can because other than us, who’ll read this anyway?

I love chemical smells like gasoline, rubber tires, paint, and also musty basement smells.

What is the favorite body feature of yourself?

My eyes.

Is there a tattoo that you want? If you don’t have one, gun-to-your-head so you have to get one, what would it be?

I already have two, a purple bat and blue stars. I have a list of future tattoos, which include  a magpie, a cat patronus, and something that incorporates Gemini/Mercury. Actually I’d love to have one with my whole natal chart.

What do you love about yourself?

I love that I am outgoing and find it easy to talk to people.

What do you hate about yourself?

I’m extremely impatient.

Who is someone you miss?

My nephew, but he and his girlfriend are supposed to be coming to visit this winter.
